Denis and Amy were introduced by a mutual friend, LW, who was Denis' room mate and class mate at the time. Denis was in fourth year Industrial Design, and Amy was in second year Electrical Engineering. It was far from love at first sight however, since they had to be introduced about three times before they registered on each other's radars, and even then, both were labouring under some misconceptions about each other at the time.
If it hadn't been for a spontaneous decision to visit her friend LW in her studio, and a spontaneous invitation from LW for dinner at the house, it is likely they never would have gotten together and realized that certain beliefs about one another were completely untrue. (and Denis never would have let his guard down if he hadn't been surprised in the kitchen while wearing an apron with fish guts on it)
